For the “30th Anniversary” edition of the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark books, publisher Harper Collins got rid of all the awesome, creepy-as-shit original artwork by Stephen Gammell, and replaced it with lame, “family-friendly” stuff. 

I heard about this at the bookstore the other day and wanted to weep. The artwork that accompanied this series was the shit that scared me the most.

Makes me glad I still have 2 volumes with the original art.

This makes me sad.

Ahhhh Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The illustrations in these books were always so creepy.

This was my favorite story.

I devoured these things when I was younger

Seriously WHY WAS I ALLOWED TO READ THESE???? Honestly, the illustrations alone gave me nightmares.
